Sinister mistletoe is a parasite that is strangling apple trees and raising havoc. Are holiday kisses endangered? Read the whole story here.
Tonight I dine, birthday style. The one who knows and loves me best is taking me out to do the thing I like to do most: eat.
For those who would like a play-by-play of my dining schedule here it is:
I will sip Vietnamese-inspired coctails at the bar named for the French symbolist poète maudit Paul Verlaine — who imbibed copiously, cavorted with prostitutes and diddled fellow poète maudit Arthur Rimbaud. And if the rumors are true, the place makes for a cheap date. Lychee martinis are a mere $5.
That’s right. When cocktail hour ends, we’re ain’t leaving. We’ll just move to another table. I’ve already picked out what I will eat:
verlaine summer rolls with apple, mint, jicame, carrots and vermicelli noodles
yun choy vegetable curry cream puffs
fried ginger chicken wings with honey soy dipping sauce
side of sauteed snow peas.
Today, I’ll eat a cupcake from Sugar Sweet Sunshine. Tomorrow I’ll eat a cake.
